Get to Know Eric Post

Many clients going through this program will be working closely with Economic Consulting Managing Director Eric Post. Eric, who is celebrating his 10-year anniversary with ITR Economics, oversees ITR Economics’ research, economics training, economic forecasting, and data. He is the perfect team member to help your business thrive through the Great Depression of the 2030s.

Eric’s passion for helping businesses stems from a personal place, as his family’s business faced its own economic challenges over the years.

“My entire childhood I watched my family’s business ebb during recessions and thrive during expansionary periods. Then we went into the Great Recession. It was really painful! So, I take this mission of helping businesses prepare for downturns very seriously and on a bit of a personal level. Obviously the 2030s depression will be the ultimate challenge, so I want to use my skills as best I can to help businesses be as prepared as possible to make sure those businesses and their employees are in the best shape possible to weather the storm.” – Eric Post

Eric’s diverse personal and professional experiences have uniquely equipped him to serve as one of the lead economists for the Financial Resilience program.

“First, my passion for small business fostered by my entrepreneurial father. He and I are very close – so to some extent I have been around the business world my entire life. Second, I used to be a teacher. I think a strength of mine is listening to people’s perspectives and seeing where I can help and where I can’t help. Third, I’ve worn almost every econ-related hat at ITR Economics, and I also have a substantial period of non-ITR Economics economic consulting experience to draw upon. That combination has prepared me to handle a variety of circumstances that might come my way when analyzing a company.” – Eric Post

"When people prepare both their businesses and their own finances for difficult times, the difficult times aren’t as difficult."

The Road to Resilience

When the Financial Resilience program originally started, ITR Consulting Principal and Chief Economist Brian Beaulieu was the sole economist on the project. The program has continued to grow in scope and in popularity, and Eric offers a complementary yet distinct perspective to Brian.

The 2030s depression will be such a critical time for people and businesses around the world, so you need a trusted advisor in your corner. Eric is deeply involved in the forecasting, research, data, and Thought Leadership efforts at ITR Economics.

Eric will soon also be a Deputy Chief Economist at the firm, putting him in a strong position to be one of our top subject matter experts on the Great Depression of the 2030s.

Brian’s consulting style is shaped by the thousands of keynotes he’s given over his very long and distinguished career at ITR Economics. Mine is shaped by my time at ITR Economics first and foremost, but also my prior experiences in the small business and economic consulting world outside of ITR Economics. We have a lot in common though, with the biggest common denominator being we are both fully committed to ITR Economics’ data-minded, apolitical approach to analysis.” – Eric Post

Whereas many business leaders might be unaware of how to navigate the 2030s depression, Eric is most excited to help people prepare for what is to come and overcome this economic downturn.

“When people prepare both their businesses and their own finances for difficult times, the difficult times aren’t as difficult, and they might even be able to get find of the best opportunities during those times. When the clients I work with succeed, that’s how I succeed and ITR Economics succeeds.” – Eric Post

So far, we have received tremendous feedback from clients who have gone through the Financial Resilience program. For any business leaders who are on the fence about the service, Eric urges business leaders to reflect on the past downturns they have faced that shape their decisions about the future.

“Think back to the last one or two painful recessions you have endured – such as the oil & gas recession of 2015-16 or the Great Recession. Now, imagine something is coming that is likely worse in severity and certainty worse in terms of duration. Further, imagine you could do something to prepare your business for years ahead of time to best position yourself to survive and perhaps even thrive in the downturn. I’d be remiss not to mention that the best opportunities for businesses are present at the bottom of a downturn. What is the value of being prepared for that event? What is the pain of not being prepared for that event? Then compare that to the cost (monetary and time) it will take your company to participate in the Financial Resilience program.” – Eric Post

With only a few short years left until the beginning of the depression, now is the time to prepare for what is to come. The Financial Resilience program can make the difference between success and failure in the 2030s, so do not leave your business’s future up to chance! Contact us to learn more.
